What Is Bee Sharp?

Bee Sharp is a free daily word puzzle with a musical twist. Every day, a fresh set of 7 letters is arranged in a honeycomb grid. Your goal is to find as many valid words as possible — with one rule: every word must include the highlighted golden letter.

What sets Bee Sharp apart is its music word bonus. Whenever you find a music-related word — an instrument, a music theory term, a genre — you earn extra points. These special words glow purple in your found list, giving the puzzle a layer that music fans genuinely love.

It's inspired by honeycomb-style word puzzles, but built from scratch with a musical identity all its own.

How It Works

Each day's puzzle gives you 7 letters in a honeycomb. Build words using those letters — every word must contain the golden letter, be at least 4 letters long, and only use the given letters (though you can reuse them). Find a word that uses all 7 letters and you've found a pangram — a big bonus.

The Music Twist

At the heart of Bee Sharp is a handcrafted list of over 500 music-related words. These span the full breadth of music — instruments, theory terms, notation, genres, and more. Any puzzle word that also appears on this list earns a +3 bonus on top of its regular score.

This turns every puzzle into a double challenge: find as many words as you can, and listen for the music hidden within them. The more music you know, the higher you'll climb.

Ranks & Progression

Bee Sharp has 9 music-themed ranks, from Rookie all the way to Virtuoso. Your rank is determined by your score as a percentage of the day's total possible points — music bonuses included.

As you unlock higher ranks, you earn sound packs — audio themes for the game, each with a distinct personality. There are 10 to discover, crafted by the developer using real synthesisers and virtual instruments. One is a secret — keep your eyes (and ears) open.

The Story

Bee Sharp started as a weekend project — a personal challenge to build a word puzzle game with a genuine musical identity. It was built from scratch without frameworks or app stores, as a Progressive Web App you can install directly from your browser.

What began as a quick prototype has grown into a fully-featured daily game: two game modes, 9 ranks, 10 sound packs, and a word list of nearly 100,000 eligible words — all hand-curated to keep puzzles fair and fun.

The game is actively developed and updated regularly. A stats system is now live. If you enjoy Bee Sharp, you can support its development on Ko-fi.

Play Anywhere — No App Store Needed

Bee Sharp is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it on your phone or desktop straight from your browser. It works just like a native app — but there's nothing to download from an app store.
